NeuroBioTec

Once informed patients give their consent, samples are collected throughout all HCL hospitals as well as external health establishment and are brought to NeuroBioTec through pneumatic or certified transportation companies.
From the moment samples arrive, lab technicians verify their identification and qualification, insure anonymity and register all informations into the CRB’s database (Tumorotek® software).
Samples are then being processed under sterilized conditions using a biosafety cabinet (BSC), respecting technical preparation procedures defined beforehand according to the sample nature (tissue, serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, cells, PBMC, DNA, RNA,…).

Samples cryopreservation involves 2 methods according to their nature:
Fluids (blood, urine, CSF) are stored at -80°C into secured CO2 freezers, alarm are connected to the GHE’s security department and temperature are monitored using Sirius® software. NeuroBioTec houses 7 storage freezers and 2 emergency freezers.
Tissues and cells (PBMC, CSF pellet) are stored at -196°C into liquid nitrogen tanks. NeuroBioTec houses 8 liquid nitrogen tanks.
Samples are duplicated for storage and the secured storage facility is equipped with O2 and CO2 alarms, double ventilation and air conditioner.
NeuroBioTec procedures insure the safety of its staff and sample cryopreservation under quality assurance.

NeuroBioTec collaborates with Saint-Louis Hospital’s (AP-HP) tissue biobank to use and develop the TumoroteK®(TK) database for sample data management. TK is available online and is built on three-tier architecture. It consists on a web server, an application server and a database management system. It runs with a simple web browser and is used by 30 France CRB.
TK offers multiple features:
- Patients and samples data processing
- Sample localization within the storage units
- Clinical data management programmable according to a collection
- Multi-criteria queries
- Activity reports, import and export data reports
- Interoperability with the HCL’s database and the Diamic® software

All biological samples listed into the catalogue are available for researchers from public or private organisms.
For any sample request, you can contact our staff using the “services” or “contact” section. Once the sample request is approved by the collection manager and the NeuroBioTec’s scientific comity, a material transfer agreement will be drafted by the Clinical Research Delegation (DRCI). After signature of this contract, anonymized samples and associated clinical data will be distributed.
